ABOUT THE RECIPE
Luna Mittens are warm and versatile mittens that are knitted in a nice structure. The mittens are knitted from the bottom up, with increases for the thumb being set off along the way. When the desired length is reached, bind off at the top, knit together with stockinette stitch, and finally knit the thumb.
You can choose whether to knit the mittens with or without an opening. If knitted without an opening, the mittens will be exactly the same. If knitted with an opening, make sure that the opening is on the correct side. Afterwards, pick up stitches along the opening and knit a rib for a neat and practical finish.
Luna Mittens can be knitted in multiple colors, making them a perfect leftover yarn project. Play around with color combinations, or knit a pair in a solid color for a classic look – either way, you'll get a nice, warm pair of mittens for the winter.
Yarn options:
Tilia can be replaced with any Tynn Silk Mohair or other Tynn follower thread, such as Alva from Filcolana or Alpakka follower thread from Sandnes garn.
Peruvian can be replaced with Peer Gynt from Sandnes Garn, or Higland Wool from Knit and Note.
As long as the knitting tension is right, there are a lot of different yarn combinations you can use. If you want to knit with two or more different colors, I would recommend using the lightest color as the base color and the darkest as the pattern color.
